When Tarpon Trips Are Best
Tarpon fishing is seasonal (June – July only).
When conditions line up, it can be incredible — and when they don’t, we’ll be honest and adjust the plan to give you the best overall fishing day.
If tarpon are your priority, we recommend booking during peak tarpon windows and staying flexible with timing. Captain Marvin will advise on the best plan for your dates.
Even on dedicated tarpon trips, it’s common to run into other hard-fighting species depending on the season and conditions.
If tarpon are slow or conditions shift, Captain Marvin can pivot to keep the action going while still keeping tarpon as the main objective!
How We Target Tarpon
Tarpon tactics depend on the day. Captain Marvin may use a mix of approaches such as:

- Targeting travel lanes, edges, and productive zones
- Presentations designed for high-percentage shots
- Adjusting tackle and strategy based on fish behavior and water conditions

What to Expect
on a 30A Bay Guide Service Charter
Captain & Boat
You’ll fish with Captain Marvin Glasgow, an experienced inshore guide who knows how to approach tarpon when the season is right. He runs a restored 22’ Cape Horn bay boat that’s ideal for inshore versatility and comfortable fishing.
The boat is equipped with modern GPS, fishfinder, and VHF radio, plus a wireless trolling motor for quiet positioning. There’s also a livewell and an ice box to keep things chilled and comfortable on board.
What's Included
Captain Marvin makes it easy — everything you need to fish is included. Your trip includes rods, reels, tackle, bait, and the required fishing licenses for your group. All you need to bring is weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection, and your own snacks and drinks.
At the end of the trip, if you decide to keep any legal catch (where appropriate), Captain Marvin will clean and bag your fish.
Note: Many anglers choose to release tarpon. Captain Marvin will guide you on best handling practices for a strong release.
Where We Launch
Trips can launch from Santa Rosa Beach, Freeport, or Panama City Beach depending on the day’s conditions and your trip plan. Captain Marvin will confirm the best launch location ahead of time based on weather, water conditions, and where the tarpon activity is most likely.
